First Hive
Located on the Mansion grounds, a hive of honeybees provide the Mansion kitchen with fresh honey and visitors a chance to learn about these incredible insects. With the assistance of the University of Georgia Extension, the "First Hive" occupy two beehives. Each bee has a unique role in the hive, all working together to produce honey and pollinate crops. Honeybees are particularly important to our environment, playing a key role in the pollination process that is essential to healthy growth of plants.
