Atlanta, GA – Governor Brian P. Kemp today joined Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey and Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency Director Chris Stallings to announce five new mass COVID-19 vaccination sites in Chatham, Ware, Washington, Bartow, and Muscogee counties.

Operations at these sites will begin March 17. With the addition of these sites, the state's mass vaccination program will have the capacity to administer 45,000 doses weekly between nine sites throughout the state.

"With expanded eligibility beginning March 8 and 75,000 currently eligible Georgians on a wait list for appointments at our operating mass vaccination sites, demand for the vaccine is still very high," said Governor Kemp. "We can and should do more to make absolutely certain that more doses are getting into the arms of eligible Georgians quickly, and these additional sites will help those efforts. By expanding the mass vaccination program to these five counties, we are taking clear steps to continue vaccinating the vulnerable and reach as many communities as possible as we administer this life-saving vaccine."

Over the last 28 days, Georgia has administered 1.1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses. Total doses administered in Georgia stand at 2,154,840. The state has administered 76% of vaccines shipped by the federal government, not including the federal partnership with providers like CVS and Walgreens.

As of today, 860,000 Georgians over the age of 65 have received their first dose. Nearly 60% of Georgia’s elderly population have received at least one vaccine dose, which is higher than the national average of 49%.
