Gov. Kemp Names 17 Appointments
Atlanta, GA – Today Governor Brian P. Kemp announced seventeen (17) appointees to serve on various state boards and commissions.
Board of Public Safety
Stacey Lanier Cotton has served as Chief of Police for the City of Covington, Georgia since 1997. Under his leadership, the Covington Police Department has remained CALEA-accredited since it was initially accredited in 1985 and is celebrating thirty-four years as an internationally accredited agency. In addition to a bachelor's degree from Mercer University where he serves as an adjunct professor, Chief Cotton holds two master's degrees from Troy University: one in Public Administration and one in Criminal Justice. Chief Cotton is also a 1997 graduate of the FBI National Academy – Session 188 and was a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2006.
Chief Cotton has served on many boards and is involved with many community programs. He is a founding member and past chairman of the Newton-Walton Child Advocacy Center “A Child’s Voice." He is a past president of the Georgia Association of Chief of Police (2009-2010) and was named Police Chief of the year for the State of Georgia in 2012.
He is a member of Covington First Baptist Church. Chief Cotton is married to Lana Lane, and they have three children.
Bruce Carlisle, Police Chief for Lavonia, Georgia, is being reappointed to the board.
Georgia Board of Athletic Trainers
Yusuf Ali is the Manager and Vice President of American Logistics, Inc. His family lives in Hampton, Georgia. Mr. Ali is serving as the consumer member of the board.
Georgia Board of Dentistry
Dr. Glenn Maron is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Peachtree Dunwoody Oral and Facial Surgery, PC. Dr. Maron is also a team physician for the Atlanta Braves. He obtained a DDS from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1986. He and his wife, Deborah, live in Dunwoody and they have two children.
Mark Scheinfeld is appointed as the consumer member of the board. He is an attorney and lives in Marietta with his wife and children.
Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians
Nina Bishop Witkofsky lives in Atlanta. She and her husband have two children. She is an adjunct faculty member for Georgetown University and obtained a master's degree in Business Administration from Mercer University. Mrs. Witkofsky is serving as a consumer member on the board.
Georgia Real Estate Commission
Lee Dollar is Facilities & Project Manager for the thirty-two facilities in the Uncle Remus Regional Library System and West Georgia Regional Library System. He and his wife live in Lindale, Georgia, and have two children. Mr. Dollar is serving as a consumer member on the commission.
Georgia State Board for Residential and General Contractors
Omar Ali is President of Steel Fabrication Exponents. He and his family live in Tyrone, Georgia. Mr. Ali is serving as a consumer member on the board.
Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers
Betty Ann Lindsey lives in Tifton, Georgia with her husband and has two children. Mrs. Lindsey is being reappointed and serving as a consumer member of the board.
Georgia State Board of Podiatry Examiners
Judith Sanders is retired and lives in Warner Robins, Georgia. Sanders is being reappointed and serving as a consumer member of the board.
Sex Offender Registration Review Board
Raymond Frank Mullis, Jr. is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia. He began his career in 2004 as a sex offender counselor with STOP, Inc. He currently counsels sex offenders on state and federal probation and parole throughout Middle and South Georgia.
Frank is currently pursuing his Doctor of Professional Counseling at Midwestern College in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his Master of Theological Studies in 2004 and Master of Divinity in Counseling in 2000. He received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Georgia College in 1994. He also holds an A.S. in Psychology and an A.A. in Education from Middle Georgia College.
Frank is married to Roslyn L. Mullis, and they have four daughters.
State Board for Cemeterians
Cassius Butts is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Capital Fortitude Business Advisors. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He obtained a bachelor's degree from Morehouse College and a master's degree from Clark Atlanta University. Butts is serving as a consumer member on the board.
State Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers
William Lanier (Bill) Herndon is a Presbyterian minister. He and his wife live in Stockbridge, Georgia. Herndon is serving as a consumer member of the board.
State Board of Nursing Home Administrators
Roy Edward "Trey" Taylor, III and his wife and children live in Valdosta. Trey is the Chief Executive Officer of EMTT, Inc. d/b/a/ Taylor Insurance Services. Taylor is serving as a consumer member of the board.
State Board for Physical Therapy
Norma Nunez-Cortes is the Title 1 Federal Program Director for the Appling County Board of Education. She and her husband have two children and live in Baxley. Nunez-Cortes is serving as a consumer member on the board.
State Board of Veterinary Medicine
Thomas Culpepper and his wife live in Cartersville, Georgia. He is a retired chief of police for the city of Cartersville, high school forensics teacher, and previous owner of Culpepper Safety and Security Consulting, LLC. Culpepper is serving as a consumer member on the board.
