Gov. Kemp Swears In New State Accounting Officer and Commissioner of the Department of Human Services

Atlanta, GA – Today, Governor Brian P. Kemp administered the oath of office to Gerlda B. Hines to serve as State Accounting Officer and Candice Broce to serve as Commissioner of the Department of Human Services. Commissioner Broce will also serve as Director of the Division of Family and Children Services.

Georgia Unemployment Rate Drops for 16th Straight Month to 3.5%

Atlanta, GA - Today, Governor Brian P. Kemp applauded Georgia's unemployment rate dropping for the sixteenth straight month to 3.5% for August 2021, down from 3.7% in July.

Gov. Kemp Announces New Economic Development Role to Empower Small Businesses

Atlanta, GA – As part of the State of Georgia’s recognition of National Small Business Week 2021, Governor Brian P. Kemp today announced a new position in state government to support and empower Georgia’s small business community. According to Georgia Department of Labor data, businesses with fewer than 500 employees account for 99.8% of businesses in Georgia, and through a recommendation of Governor Kemp’s Georgians First Commission, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) has established a Director of Small Business Outreach to build on the Department’s current portfolio of services and provide greater direct engagement with this community. GDEcD’s former Director of Creative Industry Partnerships, Allen Fox, will serve in this role.
