Deal appoints three to boards

Lewis C. Horne, Jr., Georgia Regents Health System Board of Directors
Horne is the coordinating partner of the Atlanta office of Schiff Hardin LLP. He previously served as the acting chief legal officer of Grady Health System, where he was extensively involved in negotiating and structuring the reorganization of Grady Health System in 2008. He has also served for the past three years on the board of directors of the Georgia Regents University Medical Center. He has held various leadership positions in the National Association of Bond Lawyers, as well as the public finance activities of the American Bar Association. In 2008, Horne was inducted into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame. Horne earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree and law degree from Harvard University. He and his wife, Audrey, have two grown children. They reside in East Point.  
 
Melanie W. Hudson, State Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
Hudson is a director with EBS Healthcare. She is a former president of the Georgia Speech-Language and Hearing Association and a fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, where she serves on several boards and committees. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at Georgia State University. She presents nationally and has published in the areas of clinical supervision and human performance improvement. Hudson earned a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and a master’s degree at George Washington University. She and her husband, John, reside in Woodstock.
 
Michael Steele, State Use Council
Steele serves as executive director of Faces of Freedom-United States, a charitable organization that assists returning, wounded veterans with reintegration into society. He founded Faces of Freedom-United States in 2008. He is retired from the U.S. military. Steele earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Administration and Strategic Studies from the University of Georgia. He resides in Morgan County.
