Deal appoints four to boards

Richard L. Weil, Georgia Composite Medical Board (reappointment)
Weil is a board certified pediatrician who attended Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals and served as chief resident at Grady Hospital. He currently serves as chief of pediatrics at Piedmont Hospital and is on the board of directors for Kids Health First Pediatric Alliance. Weil is also on the board of the 1998 Society of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He and his wife, Carole, have two daughters. They reside in Atlanta.

Craig S. Lesser, Georgia Public Telecommunications Board (reappointment)
Lesser is the managing partner of the Pendleton Group specializing in international economic development and strategy. He is the former commissioner of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism. Lesser is a graduate of the State University of New York and the Harvard Business School of Advanced Management Program. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children. They reside in Atlanta.

K. Dean Burke, Georgia Board for Physician Workforce
Burke is a gynecologist in private practice and is currently on the medical staff of Bainbridge Memorial Hospital. Previously, he served as a hospital board member and as chief of staff. His other involvement includes prior service on the Georgia Medical Care Foundation and presently the Bainbridge City Council. Burke is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern University and the Medical College of Georgia, where he received a rural physician scholarship to attend medical school. He and his wife, Thea, have two grown children. They reside in Bainbridge.

Katie C. Miller, Board of Public Health
Miller is a development officer with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As a foundation employee, she helps lead efforts to develop awareness and secure individual gifts for the not-for-profit’s network of pediatric hospitals, facilities and programs. Prior to joining Children’s, Miller was a fund-raising consultant with Capitol Strategy Group in Atlanta. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Spanish from the University of Georgia and a certificate of study from La Universidad de Granada in Spain. The Newnan native and her husband, Doug, live in Atlanta.
