Deal appoints six to boards

Philip G. Youngblood, Veterans Service Board
Youngblood is a retired senior noncommissioned officer with the U.S. Army and also a retired South Georgia Regional Manager for the Georgia Department of Veterans Services. He is the current state commander for the American Legion Department of Georgia and a member of the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission. He and his wife, Yvonne, have two children and three grandchildren. They reside in Quitman.

John B. Hulsey, Georgia Agriculture Exposition Authority
Hulsey is currently the owner of Hulsey Environmental Services. He also operates two farms, Broad River Valley and LHR Farms in Cleveland. He is a graduate of North Georgia College and State University and a lifetime member of the National Cutting Horse Association. He and his wife, Cinda, have four children and five grandchildren. They reside in Gainesville.

Philip S. Jacobs, Professional Standards Commission
Jacobs is a founding partner in the Pendleton Consulting Group and a senior consultant for Coxe Curry and Associates. Prior to his current roles, Jacobs spent 34 years with BellSouth and AT&T. He currently serves on boards for the CDC Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Aquarium, Teach for America, AdvancED and the Georgia Historical Society. He is also a member of the downtown Atlanta Rotary Club. A native of the Washington, D.C., area, Jacobs is a graduate of the Landon School and received his undergraduate degree from Denison University. He and his wife, Jenny, live in Atlanta. They have three children and four grandchildren.

Glenn M. Morris, State Board of Dispensing Opticians (reappointment)
Morris began his optical career in 1970 and started Morris Opticians and Hearing Aid Center in 1974. He is also currently a member of the state board where he has served since 1986. He and his wife, Joan, have three children. They reside in Augusta. 

Dennis C. Sanders, Board of Trustees of the Judicial Retirement System of Georgia
Sanders is currently the senior district attorney in Georgia. He has served as president of the Toombs Circuit Bar Association, president of the District Attorney’s Association, chairman of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council, chairman of the State Bar Ethics Committee and currently serves on the State Board of Governors for the State of Georgia. He has been selected as District Attorney of the Year and named to the “Super Lawyers” for the state of Georgia, but is perhaps best known for being the radio “Voice of the Thomson Bulldogs” for the past 35 years. A graduate of Mercer University and Mercer Law School, Sanders lives in Thomson with his wife Kay. They have two sons.

Josh N. Bonner, State Board of Dispensing Opticians
Bonner is the chief executive officer of Southeast Properties, Inc. in Fayetteville. He was also commissioned in the U.S. Army and served active duty as a military intelligence officer. After leaving active duty, Bonner transitioned to the Army Reserves where he has served multiple tours in Operation Enduring Freedom as well as Operation New Dawn. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Georgia. Bonner and his wife, Michelle, have three children. They reside in Fayetteville.
