Deal appoints three to boards

Benjamin R. Tarbutton, Board of Trustees of the Georgia Lottery Corporation
Tarbutton is co-manager of Seaboard Operating Company, LLC, a real estate agency in Sandersville. He is also owner of SafePro Security Systems, LLC, an electronic security systems distributor. He is a former member of the Upper Oconee Water Council. Tarbutton earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a juris doctorate from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, Jane and Elizabeth. They reside in Sandersville.

C. Dean Alford, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
Alford is president and chief executive officer of Allied Energy Services where he is currently responsible for over $5 billion of energy projects in Central and North America. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Alford served five terms as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives. He also served as a member of the State Board of Education of Georgia. In 2006, Alford was appointed to the Board of the Technical College System of Georgia, where he served as chair until last year. He and his wife, Debbie, have five children and two grandchildren. They reside in Conyers.

William C. Rice III, Board of Governors of the George L. Smith II World Congress Center Authority
Rice retired after 38 years as director of marketing for Milliken and Company. He has served on the board of directors for the Uniform Textile Service Association, Textile Rental Service Association and the Kex National Association. He is a past president and chairman of the board for Leadership Georgia. Rice attended the University of Florida prior to transferring to Valdosta State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business. He also attended the University of North Carolina, School of Business Administration Executive Program. He and his wife, Helen, have one son and three grandchildren. They reside in LaGrange.
