Deal names four to boards

Robin H. Ferst, Georgia Commission on Hearing Impaired and Deaf Persons

Ferst is founder and president of Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, a statewide nonprofit organization promoting early education and school readiness. Ferst serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission, Theater of the Stars and the Atlanta Advisory Committee for Jumpstart. She is also an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain, Psi State Delta Kappa Gamma and serves as president of the R & J Ferst Foundation. Ferst earned a bachelor’s of Science degree in business administration from Shorter College. She is a native of Atlanta.

William (Bill) E. Dewrell , Department of Community Affairs Board, 6th Congressional District seat

Dewrell is the managing member of Hickory Road Development, a full service commercial real estate firm in Woodstock. He served one term on the Woodstock City Council before becoming mayor in 2000. Dewrell served as mayor until 2006, during which time he was a member of the Atlanta Regional Commission, Metro Atlanta Mayors Association and on the board of the Georgia Municipal Association. He currently serves on the Communications and Public Input Committee for the Atlanta Regional Commission. Dewrell received a degree in business administration from Reinhardt College in Waleska. He and his wife, Genella, have two grown daughters. They live in Woodstock.

Denise R. Taylor, LMT, NMT, MMT,  Georgia Board of Massage Therapy

Taylor is the owner and Integrated Healthcare Director of Coastal Integrated Health & Wellness on St. Simons Island. She is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Taylor is certified in a multitude of specialties in her field and is currently integrating medical massage into physicians’ offices. Taylor received her national certification as a Massage Therapist in 1999 with a certification in Neuromuscular Therapy. She and her husband Kenneth have one child, Kameron. They live on St. Simons Island.

J. Barry Schrenk, Georgia Council for the Arts

Schrenk is president and owner of Taggart’s Driving School, which was founded in 1957. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Opera and on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Opera Guild. Schrenk is Chairman of the Education Committee. He is also the Southeast Regional Director of the Metropolitan Opera National Council for Membership and Finance and serves on the M.O.N.C. board of national advisers. Professionally, Schrenk has worked with members and various committees of the Georgia General Assembly for nearly 30 years regarding driver education, driver improvement, DUI and traffic safety issues. Schrenk graduated with a degree in commerce from Rider University, where he later received a Distinguished Alumni Award. He and his wife, Anita, have two daughters and three grandchildren. They live in Tucker.
