Three named to Georgia Music Hall of Fame Authority

Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed the following to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Authority. The appointments take effect immediately. The authority has nine board members.

Rose Lane Leavell

Leavell is a native of Twiggs County, where she is a third generation tree farmer at Charlane Plantation. She is currently working with Georgia Women of Achievement to recognize the women who have an important place in state history and on the Georgia Council for the Humanities Smithsonian Exhibit "New Harmonies," which will tour Georgia in 2012. Leavell also sits on the Board of Trustees of "Ties to the Land," an initiative established to provide family forest owners throughout the United States with the resources needed to successfully plan for the future of their land. She and her husband, Chuck, have two children and two grandchildren. They reside in Dry Branch.

Timothy R. Stapleton, M.D.

Stapleton practices medicine in Macon at Forsyth Street Orthopaedics. He received his board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition to practicing medicine, Stapleton also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at both the Mercer University School of Medicine as well as the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Stapleton earned degrees in Biology and Christianity, both from Mercer University, and then earned his medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine. He is an Eagle Scout and remains active with the Middle Georgia Scout Council. He and his wife, Judy, have two grown sons. They live in Macon.

Charles "Charley" Humbard

Humbard is the CEO of the Gospel Music Channel. He built the network into one of the fastest-growing cable networks, with more than 50 million subscribers. Prior to founding the Gospel Music Channel, Humbard served as senior vice president and general manager of Discovery Networks. There he was responsible for the development and launch of six nationally distributed television channels including Discovery HD Theatre. Humbard attended Belmont University in Nashville. He is the son of pioneering tele-evangelist Rex Humbard. He and his wife, Jenny, have two grown sons. They live in Atlanta.
