Deal names five to boards

Laura G. Sarsfield, Georgia Commission on Hearing Impaired and Deaf Persons

Sarsfield is a homemaker, former nurse and mentor for the Bionic Ear Association at Advanced Bionics.  She is a member of the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Stakeholders Committee.  Sarsfield is also a member of the core team for the National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention for Georgia. She serves as the parent representative for the Georgia Commission on Hearing Impaired and Deaf Persons.  Sarsfield earned a bachelor’s degree in genetics from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Brenau College.  She and her husband, Michael, have three children, two of whom have hearing loss and use bilateral cochlear implants. They live in Buford.

Delmar Robert “Bob” Barnard, State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors

Barnard is currently a remodeler with Barnard and Associates Remodeling, Inc. He is a board member of the local, state and National Association of Home Builders and the Vice President of Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia.  He is involved locally as a member of the Impact Fee Advisory Board and the Downtown Development Authority for Fayetteville. Barnard is also a member of the Builder Advisory Board for the Fayette County Building Department.  He and his wife, Cindy, live in Fayetteville.  They have three children.

Carolyn D. Meadows, Stone Mountain Memorial Association

Meadows retired from the human resources department at Lockheed Martin, where she was a buyer for the employee store.  She has been actively involved in the Republican Party since 1964 and served as Georgia's National Committeewoman for 12 years. She currently serves on the National Rifle Association board of directors, American Conservative Union Board, Republicans Abroad Board and Council for National Policy.  She attended Georgia State University and resides in Marietta.  Meadows and her husband, Bob, have three sons and seven grandchildren.

Krista Autry, Georgia Board of Cosmetology

Autry has been the owner and operator of Twenty Fifth Hour Spa & Shoppe for 10 years.  Twenty Fifth Hour Spa & Shoppe was awarded the “Best of the Best North Georgia” by the readers of the Chattanooga Times Free Press.  Autry earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and is an esthetician graduate from the International School of Skin and Nailcare.  She and her husband, Jason, live in Ringgold with their daughter.

Richard P. Long, Ph.D., Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists: Division of Marriage and Family Therapists

Long is a faculty member in the Department of Counseling, Foundations and Leadership in the Columbus State University College of Education.  He also counsels individuals, couples and families and supervises therapists at The Family Center, a United Way community mental health facility.  Long is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and an approved supervisor.  His presentation, workshops and training programs have been delivered at international, national, and state conventions and conferences.  He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from West Virginia University, his doctorate from Southern Illinois University and his Master in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University.  Long resides in Columbus.
